Members of an Italian clan of burglars who stole over £1.2m valued of goods, among them from ex- Newcastle United striker Isak, have been ordered to return just £1 each.

Siblings Valentino and Giacomo Nikolov, their sister Jela Jovanovic and her son Charlie journeyed to the northeastern of the UK to raid multiple homes in spring 2024.

The group of four were jailed for from a decade or less in 2025.

At a criminal assets proceeding at the court, Jela and the Nikolov brothers were instructed to repay £1 per person while Charlie must hand over £1,135.

Details of the Burglaries

The court previously heard the group arrived by boat in the United Kingdom on March 27, 2024 and employed a RV as their "base of operations", which they stationed at Scotch Corner and Durham rest stops while utilizing another car to scout out properties and carry out burglaries.

On 31 March they took over £1m of items including high-end fashion, handbags, jewellery and a honor from a residence on Clayton Road in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the owners were away.

The following night, the crew entered a home on a gated cul-de-sac in Whitburn, and stole luxury bags, jewellery and footwear worth over one hundred thousand pounds.

After scouting out Newcastle United's training ground for 48 hours, they then struck at the home of Sweden striker Mr Isak in Darras Hall on 4 April, taking ten thousand pounds in money, £68,000 worth of jewelry and the player's one hundred twenty thousand pound Audi RS6.

The group, who were portrayed by prosecutors as professional itinerant thieves, used gloves and face coverings, turned their phones off as they neared their objectives and strapped a license plate, which had been stolen from a garage in a town, on to their vehicle with rubber straps.

They were apprehended in the Birmingham area on April 13.

Court Hearings and Sentencing

Valentino Nikolov had pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to burglary but was found guilty by jurors, while his family members had all entered admissions to the identical accusation.

At the criminal gains session, lawyer the prosecution said every one of the defendants had profited from their crimes to the amount of over £1.2 million, which was determined by what the victims said they had lost.

But Charlie was the sole individual deemed to have any money that could be "recovered", namely over a thousand pounds which had previously been confiscated by authorities, the judge was informed, with two weeks to be served in jail if he failed to pay.

The remaining members had no money or assets so were directed to make a nominal fee of £1 each, with one week in prison the result if the money was not submitted.

Judge Spragg said if they were found with assets in the future, "such as driving around in Italy in a sports car or possessing a home", prosecutors could initiate new proceedings to "satisfy the amount due".
