Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
