It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was out Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.
