The center's head, a former Amazon UK boss, confirmed that multiple research initiatives at the center employing hundreds have been terminated, spun out or completed because they fail to match with the fresh focus.

Organizational Difficulties

The institute has faced internal strife since last year as employees objected against restructuring, culminating in a team of staff members registering an official concern to the relevant regulatory body.

The institute's leadership stated that these employee allegations were externally examined by a neutral third party that found them to have be unsubstantiated.

Broader Scientific Scope

The organization will also focus on deploying AI for environmental applications and health innovations.
